We have reviewed our policy with regard to the time frames for the requests for medication.
Please be aware that from Tuesday 3rd April 2018 we will be changing the response time for prescriptions.
For patients ordering their medication through their pharmacy please allow 5 full working days to complete the medication requests.
For patients who order their medications online using the Systmone ordering service or if they request their medication in person we will issue the prescription within/up to 3 full working days.
This is because, even if an approved repeat, there are safety checks and reviews that we undertake in the background before we issue of any prescribed drug.
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT TAKE PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS OVER THE TELEPHONE.
You can order your medication at least two weeks in advance. If you are going on holiday and request extra medication please state this on the request form or let your pharmacy know.
We deal with about 400 prescription requests a day. Unfortunately when the Doctors are interrupted to deal with requests that have been left to the last moment this has led to errors- affecting both the patient making the late request & the patient who is being dealt with when the interruption occurs. Reception have therefore been instructed to no longer take this route, so please be understanding if they tell you that you will need to come back later in the day. We appreciate this can be frustrating but everyone’s safety is paramount. Please try and avoid finding yourself in this situation. So please send electronically, post, hand deliver and fax your requests in plenty of time – this includes Nursing & Residential homes.
Any changes to medication initiated by the hospital will require a discharge summary to enable us to change or add any medication safely and accurately.
The hospital should provide you with at least two weeks’ worth of medication before you are discharged. Often medication is not picked up from the hospital pharmacy and this has a huge knock on effect when the surgery is asked to prescribe and issue this within a short time frame.
If you order repeat medication via our website you will need to ensure you are registered for the our online service, as this has replaced the previous service. This service also enables you to book appointments, cancel appointments previously booked on line, and view summary medical records. See our home page for a registration form and take this with photo ID to reception for a registration code.
Unless you have registered for the new system you will NOT be able to reorder on line.
The service will let you interact with our practice using the Internet at your convenience, to order repeat medication – book and cancel appointments, even when we are closed.
If you are interested in this service, please complete the application form (either format) and hand it to the receptionist, together with your photo ID (driving licence or passport) to register you.
You will then will be given information that will enable you to create your username and password.
If you already order repeat medication via our website you will need to register for the above as this new service has replaced the previous service.
If you are taking regular medication and your Doctor agrees, you may obtain a repeat prescription without an appointment either on receipt of your request in writing, by personal request at reception, by ordering online via the form on this page or by contacting your local Pharmacy.
You will be given a computer printout of your repeat prescription. We will only issue up to 56 days supply of medicines (please note when setting your email reminder). Many patients receive items they do not want when they ask for a repeat of their drugs. If there are any items that you think you will never need again, please write in block capitals next to that item NO LONGER NEEDED.
Please note - some Pharmacies will collect and deliver if required.
